The Jaipur Police have finally arrested Dinesh, the driver of a speeding Audi involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed one person and injured 12 others. The accident occurred on January 9, 2026, near Kharabas Circle in Jaipur’s Journalist Colony. Dinesh, who was carrying a reward of ₹25,000 on his head, was caught after a month-long chase by a team from Patrakar Colony Police Station. According to the police, Dinesh had absconded to Haridwar after the crash but returned to Rajasthan to get money and tried to contact several people.
The police were able to track him down based on a tip-off and took him into custody on Sunday evening. So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the case, including three who were inside the Audi at the time of the accident and five others who helped the driver escape or hide. Another suspect, Mangelal, is still at large. The police have also arrested a police constable, Mukesh Ranwa, and several others who provided Dinesh with money and shelter.
The hit-and-run incident occurred when the Audi car hit people who were eating at a dhaba on the Khawas circle. The car is registered outside the state, but the owner and the people who were in the car are from Rajasthan.
