The Skoda Kylaq, a compact SUV, is now available for purchase through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) network across India. This move allows eligible members of the armed forces, including serving and retired personnel, their families, and widows of military personnel, to buy the Kylaq at subsidized rates. The CSD operates under the Ministry of Defence and offers a range of products, including cars, at lower prices than market value.
The Skoda Kylaq is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which is developed for India but backed by European engineering. It is manufactured locally and has achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection under the Bharat NCAP testing program. The availability of the Kylaq through CSD is part of Skoda Auto India’s strategy to strengthen its presence beyond regular retail and tap into government agencies, certified pre-owned markets, and fleet buyers.
By making the Kylaq accessible through the CSD network, Skoda aims to support armed forces personnel and broaden its market footprint in India. The company is focusing on blending local manufacturing, global standards, and new distribution channels to stay competitive in the fast-changing automotive landscape. The prices of the Skoda Kylaq through CSD are significantly lower than the market value, with the variant-wise prices ranging from Rs 8,09,994 for the Kylaq 1.0 MT to Rs 11,63,417 for the Prestige variant.
This initiative reflects Skoda’s commitment to expanding its reach in India and providing affordable options to a wider range of customers. The company is also looking to expand its presence in corporate and rural segments, ensuring a wider customer base in the coming years. With the introduction of the Kylaq to the CSD network, Skoda is taking another step towards strengthening its position in the Indian market and supporting the country’s armed forces personnel.
