The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Hybrid is a new addition to the Corvette family, but it’s not as fuel-efficient as its base model, the Stingray. According to Car and Driver, the E-Ray hybrid’s combined fuel economy rating is 18 mpg, which is lower than the Stingray’s 20 mpg combined rating. This is surprising, given the hybrid powertrain’s potential for improved efficiency.
The 2025 Corvette E-Ray Hybrid gets its power from a 6.2-liter V8 engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. While the hybrid system provides extra power and torque, it also adds weight and complexity, which negatively affects fuel efficiency. In contrast, the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 engine is lighter and more straightforward, which contributes to its better fuel economy.
Despite this, the E-Ray Hybrid still offers impressive performance, with 0-60 mph acceleration in just 2.3 seconds. However, its fuel efficiency is not as compelling, making it a less attractive option for those prioritizing fuel economy. For those interested in a fuel-efficient Corvette, the base Stingray model or the C8 Corvette Z06 might be a better choice.
