A team from WD Detailing recovered a 1973 Chevrolet Corvair from a forest in Panama after it was abandoned for 46 years. The car was partially buried and surrounded by overgrown trees, but despite its rough appearance, it was surprisingly well-preserved. The team used cutting and winching machinery to extract the car, and once they accessed the trunk, they were surprised to find a rare rear-mounted flat-six engine. This design feature contributed to the Corvair’s reputation as one of the most dangerous cars of all time, as Ralph Nader’s book “Unsafe at Any Speed” criticized General Motors for prioritizing profit over safety, leading to significant advancements in car safety standards and regulations. The team thoroughly restored the car, removing rust, mold, and grime, and revealed the classic Chevrolet Corvair in all its former glory.
