Skoda has finally unveiled its new flagship model, the Peaq, a fully electric seven-seat SUV that is set to hit the roads in Europe by summer 2026. The Peaq is based on the concept car Vision 7S, which was introduced in 2022, and features a unique design language called “Modern Solid” that gives it a tough and blocky look. The car’s front features a “Tech Deck” face, which replaces the traditional grille, and its T-shaped lights are its signature design element.
The Peaq is a large vehicle, stretching over 5 meters in length, which allows for three rows of seats and plenty of room for seven people. It uses the MEB platform from the Volkswagen Group, which is also used by the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and ID. 7, as well as the smaller Skoda Enyaq. This shared platform helps to keep costs down and provides a basis for the car’s specs.
The Peaq is expected to have a large 89 kWh battery, similar to the one used in the Vision 7S concept, which would provide an estimated range of around 600 km on the WLTP cycle. The top version of the car is likely to feature two motors that drive all four wheels, providing better grip in bad weather, and produce around 250 kW (340 PS) of power. A cheaper version with a single motor powering the rear wheels may also be available.
The Peaq will be the most expensive car Skoda has ever sold, but it is expected to be priced lower than its rivals, such as the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90. Skoda plans to position the Peaq as the “value choice” in the electric SUV market, offering a balance of space, range, and price. The car’s unique design, spacious interior, and impressive specs make it a compelling option for families who want a practical and environmentally friendly vehicle.
The Peaq’s arrival is expected to shake up the electric SUV market, which is becoming increasingly crowded. With its competitive pricing and impressive features, the Peaq could steal sales from other brands and establish Skoda as a major player in the electric vehicle market. Overall, the Skoda Peaq is an exciting new addition to the electric SUV market, offering a unique combination of style, space, and sustainability.
