Nick Cassidy, driving for Citroen Racing, secured a thrilling victory at the Mexico City E-Prix on Saturday, overcoming a disappointing qualifying session where he started 14th on the grid. Despite the initial setback, Cassidy expertly navigated the track, utilizing Formula E’s Attack Mode power boosts to overtake his competitors and cross the finish line first. He edged out Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara and Formula E title winner Oliver Rowland to claim the top spot.

This win marks Cassidy’s first victory with Citroen Racing, and his second consecutive podium this season, following a third-place finish at the Round 1 race in Sao Paulo. The championship runner-up from last season, Cassidy has now positioned himself as a strong contender for the Formula E title, given the trend of Mexico race winners going on to clinch the championship.

The Mexico City E-Prix was a closely contested event, with five drivers finishing within a second of each other. Taylor Barnard, driving for DS Penske, initially took the lead after forcing polesitter Sebastien Buemi into a mistake, but ultimately finished fourth. Other notable finishers included Jake Dennis in fifth, Pascal Wehrlein in sixth, and Pepe Martí, who secured his maiden points despite incurring a 60-place penalty and a Stop/Go penalty.

The event drew a number of high-profile attendees, including actor and Cupra Kiro co-owner Idris Elba, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Matty Lee, and several Mexican celebrities. The race was also accompanied by live performances from Colombian singer Mike Bahía, music producer Sinego, and Mexican singer DJ LABIBE.

Cassidy’s victory has significant implications for the Formula E championship, as he becomes a hot favorite to win the title. His win also marks a milestone for Citroen Racing, as the team secures its first victory. With this momentum, Cassidy will look to build on his success and make a strong push for the championship title in the upcoming races.
