Citroen, the French carmaker, has been steadily expanding its presence in India as part of its Citroen 2.0 strategy. The company has recently opened its 126th sales and service outlet in the country, located in Chitlapakkam near Chrompet, Chennai. This new facility is a 3S outlet, handling sales, service, and spare parts under one roof, and has been set up in association with VTK Automobiles, a long-term Citroen partner based in Chennai.

Citroen’s expansion in India has been rapid, with a 48.6 percent growth in its sales and service presence throughout the country in Q2 2025 alone. The company has leveraged various formats to increase its reach, including direct dealerships, the Hub & Spoke model, and pop-up retail points in key locations. This has enabled Citroen to transcend metros and gain ground in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, while also building presence in major urban markets.

The new Chennai outlet is designed to provide a seamless buying and ownership experience, with modern infrastructure, digital tools, advanced diagnostics, and a full-fledged service centre. Customers can explore vehicles, customize options, and access aftersales support in one place. The staff at the facility have been trained to ensure consistency in product knowledge and service quality, providing customers with the same experience across touchpoints.

Citroen’s strategy in India is geared towards steady growth, with a focus on localisation, engineering capability, and India-focused products. The company expects to end the year with 135 outlets across the nation, having added over 43 points of sale in the last six months. The new outlet in Chennai reinforces VTK Automobiles’ position in the city’s automobile market, with a focus on personalised service and upholding global brand standards.

Citroen’s expansion in India is a significant move, building the foundation for a stronger, more customer-friendly presence in the country. The company’s focus on customer experience, localisation, and steady growth is expected to pay off in the long run, establishing Citroen as a major player in the Indian automotive market. With its growing network of sales and service outlets, Citroen is well on its way to achieving its goals in India, providing customers with a seamless and enjoyable ownership experience.
