Kurt Russell has confirmed his return for Season 2 of Apple TV’s series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Russell, along with his son Wyatt Russell, plays the older and younger versions of Army officer Lee Shaw, respectively. The Season 1 finale left the fate of older Lee uncertain, as he chose to stay behind to fix a malfunction in the portal that would allow the crew to return to Earth. Unfortunately, Lee fell off the Monarch ship and was sucked into the Hollow Earth, leaving his fate in limbo.

The second season of the show will consist of 10 episodes and will also star Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. The series follows two siblings as they uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch, which leads them into the world of monsters. The show takes place in both the 1950s and the present day, with Monarch being threatened by what Lee Shaw knows.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is executive produced by Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures, alongside Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling. Trilling also directs four episodes of the show, while Colville writes two episodes and serves as executive producer. Chris Black will serve as showrunner for Season 2. The show is also executive produced by Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita on behalf of Toho Co., the owner of the Godzilla character.
