The Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens Clavis are two popular 3-row MPVs in India, catering to different needs and preferences. In terms of pricing, the Ertiga ranges from ₹8.96 lakh to ₹13.26 lakh, while the Clavis starts at ₹11.50 lakh and goes up to ₹21.50 lakh, making the Ertiga a more affordable option. However, the Clavis’ top trims offer more performance, space, and features, justifying the higher cost.

The Ertiga has a strong mileage, with the petrol manual variant giving 20.51 kmpl and the CNG version giving up to 26.11 km/kg. In contrast, the Clavis’ diesel mileage is around 19.54 kmpl, which combined with the lower cost of diesel, makes it a more fuel-efficient option. However, the Clavis does not have a CNG variant available.

In terms of interior space and seating, the Ertiga has a simple but practical design, with the third row suitable for kids or pets. The Clavis, on the other hand, offers a more premium interior with reclining second-row seats and a one-touch tumble feature for easy access to the third row. The Clavis also offers a 6-seater layout with captain chairs in the middle, giving it an advantage over the Ertiga.

The Clavis provides richer features and tech, including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera. The Ertiga, on the other hand, offers more basic features like touchscreen infotainment, rear AC vents, and fabric seats.

For practical usage, the Ertiga is a better option for city driving, with its smaller size and lighter weight making it easier to handle and park. The Clavis, with its wider and longer design, is more suitable for long trips with big families looking for a spacious and premium cabin.

In terms of safety and build quality, both cars come with six airbags in top trims and ABS, ISOFIX. The Clavis also offers ADAS and more advanced safety features in higher variants. The build quality of the Clavis feels solid and premium, while the Ertiga is reliable and easy to maintain but feels relatively basic inside.

Ultimately, the choice between the Ertiga and Clavis depends on individual preferences and needs. The Ertiga is suitable for small families and urban users who want a budget-friendly MPV with good mileage, while the Clavis is ideal for families who travel often, want comfort, and do not mind higher fuel costs. If budget is a priority, the Ertiga is the better option, but if premium features, space, and better ride quality are desired, the Clavis is the way to go.
