Bajaj Auto has introduced the world’s first CNG motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom, which is set to revolutionize the Indian two-wheeler market. Launched on July 5, 2024, this bike aims to significantly reduce fuel expenses for commuters. The Bajaj Freedom features a unique dual-fuel system, allowing it to run on both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG). This technology is a first for the global automotive industry, and it ensures a seamless riding experience without power loss.

The motorcycle boasts a modern and attractive design, with a muscular fuel tank, sleek body panels, and a stylish exhaust. Its 125cc engine is tuned for dual-fuel operation and produces 9.5 bhp of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. The bike is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and features a 2 kg CNG tank and a 2-litre petrol tank, offering an incredible range of up to 330 km on a full charge. This makes it ideal for long daily commutes, and riders can expect significantly lower running costs due to the substantial difference in price between CNG and petrol.

The Bajaj Freedom is built on a robust tubular trellis frame, offering a telescopic front fork and a linked-type monoshock rear suspension. This setup promises a stable and comfortable ride, and the bike is equipped with a combination of disc and drum brakes. The base variant gets drum brakes at both ends, while the top variant features a front disc brake for better stopping power. The bike is available in three variants, with prices starting at ₹ 95,000 (ex-showroom) for the base Drum variant, ₹ 99,500 for the mid Drum LED variant, and ₹ 1,15,000 for the top Disc LED variant.

The Bajaj Freedom represents a significant shift towards affordable and sustainable personal mobility, and its innovative CNG technology could redefine commuting for millions of Indians. The bike is initially available across major Indian cities, with plans for a phased rollout to Bajaj Auto’s wider dealership network in the coming months. It is offered in several attractive colors, including Caribbean Blue, Cyber White, and Racing Red. With its unique dual-fuel system, impressive range, and competitive pricing, the Bajaj Freedom is set to make a significant impact in the Indian two-wheeler market.
