Honda Motor Co. has released a new electric-powered motorbike model called the CUV e:, designed to provide improved convenience for riders. The CUV e: is classified as a type 2 motorized bicycle, with a power output of 0.6-1 kilowatt, equivalent to a 50cc-125cc gasoline-powered engine. The motorbike has a cruising distance of 57 kilometers and features two replaceable batteries that can be swapped out at approximately 50 battery stations in Tokyo for a fee.
One of the notable features of the CUV e: is its 7-inch monitor, which can display digital maps and other information set by the user in advance using a smartphone. Honda plans to add new monitor functions through software updates, enhancing the riding experience. The CUV e: is Honda’s fifth domestic electric motorbike model, and the company aims to release a total of 30 electric motorbike models worldwide by 2030.
The CUV e: is priced at ¥528,000, including tax, which comes with two batteries and rechargers. Honda aims to sell 700 units annually, contributing to the proliferation of electric motorbikes as a means of transportation that can help reduce carbon emissions.
