The Indian compact SUV market is set to witness a significant shift in the coming years, with three highly popular models – the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon – undergoing a generation change. This update will bring about a complete overhaul of the design language, technology, and powertrains of these vehicles. Here’s a sneak peek into what’s in store for each of these models:

The new Hyundai Venue is expected to launch in 2025, during the Diwali season. The third-generation model will feature a revised front fascia, including a new grille, bumper, and LED DRLs. The interior will also receive updates, such as a new dashboard, upholstery, and trims, along with features like a larger infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. The Venue is likely to retain its existing engines, including a 1.2L NA petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel.

The Tata Nexon will be the next in line for a generation change, expected to launch in 2027. The new model, codenamed “Garud,” will be based on a heavily modified version of the existing X1 architecture. Major design changes are expected, and the Nexon may also feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and new features. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine is likely to be retained, but the diesel engine may be discontinued due to upcoming BS7 emission norms.

Lastly, the Maruti Brezza will undergo a generation change in 2029, although it may receive midlife updates beforehand. One of the significant changes will be the introduction of a strong hybrid powertrain, which could be paired with the 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine. This is expected to offer a fuel efficiency of 35-40 kmpl. The Brezza hybrid will be a significant update, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in the market.

These updates will not only refresh the designs of these compact SUVs but also bring about significant technological advancements and improvements in fuel efficiency. With the launch timelines spread out over the next few years, car enthusiasts and potential buyers will have ample time to plan and prepare for the arrival of these new models. The competition in the compact SUV segment is set to heat up, and it will be exciting to see how these new models perform in the market.
