Škoda Auto has unveiled the Slavia B concept motorcycle, a modern electric interpretation of its 1899 predecessor. The concept was created by French designer Romain Bucaille in collaboration with Škoda’s automotive division. The original Slavia B was a groundbreaking motorcycle that featured a 240cc single-cylinder engine, producing 1.75 horsepower and achieving a top speed of 40 km/h. It was the first model Škoda entered in an international race in 1901 and was ridden by factory rider Narcis Podsedníček to the finish of the Paris-Berlin race.

The modern Slavia B concept retains the iconic diamond frame structure of its predecessor but adapts it to suit an electric powertrain. The frame is hollowed out in the central area, reflecting the absence of a combustion engine and highlighting the minimalist design approach. The concept incorporates elements characteristic of café racer aesthetics, such as a solo saddle and low handlebars, and features sharp lines and a streamlined form, aligning with Škoda’s “Modern Solid” design philosophy.

The design also nods to the vintage styling of early motorcycles, with leather accents, including an elongated seat, grips, and a leather tool bag, integrated into the frame. The large fan spokes on the wheels spin in motion, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. The color scheme features an off-white top contrasted with a lemon green bottom section, with black accents providing a perfect tone to the choice of colorways.

The Slavia B concept motorcycle is a design study that showcases Škoda’s design capabilities and pays tribute to its historical roots. While there are no confirmed plans for production, the concept illustrates Škoda’s exploration into electric two-wheeled vehicles, reflecting a blend of heritage and modern innovation in the realm of personal mobility. The concept is a testament to Škoda’s commitment to innovation and its ability to blend historical elements with contemporary design principles.

The Slavia B concept is a significant departure from the original, with its electric powertrain and modern design language. However, it remains true to the spirit of the original, which was known for its innovative design and pioneering spirit. The concept is a celebration of Škoda’s history and its contribution to the world of motorcycles, and it highlights the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and innovation. With its sleek design and cutting-edge technology, the Slavia B concept is a thrilling glimpse into the future of electric motorcycles.
