Royal Enfield has unveiled a custom bike called the Fuel Fury 650, designed to pay tribute to Eddie Mulder’s 1960 Big Bear Run victory. The bike was created in partnership with Spain’s Fuel Motorcycles, a company known for its custom bikes. The Fuel Fury 650 is inspired by the desert racing motorcycles of the 1960s, with a retro-themed design featuring a red and white dual-tone color scheme, “In Gut We Trust” written on the fuel tank, and Eddie Mulder’s racing number on the side panels.
The bike boasts advanced and rugged features, including twin LED headlights, a high front mudguard, raised exhaust pipe, and a single seat made of waterproof Alcantara leather. The graphics on the bike are inspired by the checkered flag and Big Bear Run. The Fuel Fury 650 is equipped with a 21-inch front wheel and Mitas Dakar 6 tires, making it suitable for off-roading on sand and rough roads. The bike also features a digital instrument cluster with features like speed, tachometer, GPS, and roadbook, as well as a motogadget unit that displays important data.
The custom parts that make the Fuel Fury 650 special include knuckle guards, skid plates, foam grips, and rally-style foot pegs, which give it a racing look and feel. The suspension has been modified with enduro-type forks at the front and fully adjustable shocks at the rear. The bike is powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin engine as the Bear 650, producing 47 bhp of power and 56.5 Nm of torque. However, the suspension has been improved for desert conditions.
Currently, the Fuel Fury 650 is a one-off unit, created solely for showcase purposes, and Royal Enfield has no plans to bring it into production. Nevertheless, if the company decides to produce it in the future, it will be a dream come true for bike enthusiasts. The Fuel Fury 650 is a unique and impressive tribute to Eddie Mulder’s legacy, and its custom design and features make it a standout bike that is sure to turn heads. With its powerful engine, advanced features, and rugged design, the Fuel Fury 650 is a bike that is ready to take on the toughest off-roading challenges.
