The mid-size electric vehicle (EV) SUV market is expected to witness a surge in new launches from prominent brands such as Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors. With 2025 being dubbed the “age of electric vehicles,” several companies showcased their EV offerings at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, indicating a flood of new models in the market. For prospective buyers, here are four highly anticipated electric SUVs that promise a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge.

Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, the company’s first all-electric vehicle, is set to launch in September. It will be available in two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with the latter offering a maximum power of 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The e-Vitara’s range varies from 345 km to 426 km, depending on the battery and motor configuration.

Tata Motors, on the other hand, is launching the Harrier EV on June 3. Based on the modified Acti.ev Gen 2 architecture, the Harrier EV will feature an all-wheel-drive system, a first for the current Safari generation. Although the battery specifications are not yet revealed, the Harrier EV is expected to return a range of over 500 km and a torque output of 500 Nm.

The Tata Sierra EV, which marks the return of the Sierra nameplate, is scheduled to launch this financial year. It will be based on the same Acti.ev Gen 2 architecture as the Harrier EV and is expected to offer a driving range of over 500 km. The Sierra EV will be available in two seating layouts: 4 and 5-seater, and will likely feature a front-wheel-drive system.

Lastly, Mahindra’s XEV 7e, built on the born-electric INGLO skateboard platform, is expected to be offered in two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The company has confirmed plans to introduce the 79 kWh battery option in mid-level variants, indicating a potential driving range of over 500 km.

These upcoming electric SUVs are set to revolutionize the mid-size EV market, offering impressive driving ranges and features. As the automobile sector continues to shift towards electric vehicles, these models are likely to generate significant interest among buyers. With their scheduled launches, the Indian market can expect a surge in electric vehicle adoption, driven by the growing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options.
