The Jeep Cherokee, a popular mid-size SUV, has been revived for the 2026 model year after a two-year hiatus. The 2026 Jeep Cherokee has been redesigned with the company’s latest design language, featuring a rugged look with a 7-slat grille, semi-circle LED DRLs, and rugged bumpers. The vehicle’s flat sculpted hood and roof rails add to its off-road appeal, while large wheels and body cladding give it a tough appearance.
The 2026 Cherokee is built on the STLA Large architecture, which is also used in other Stellantis vehicles. The SUV will be available in various powertrain options, including hybrid, pure electric, and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. The pure electric variant is expected to come with a 100 kWh battery pack and a dual motor setup, potentially producing up to 600 horsepower. Petrol engine options, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), will also be available.
The 2026 Jeep Cherokee is unlikely to be launched in India, where the company will continue to offer the larger Grand Cherokee. The new Cherokee’s design is inspired by the recently debuted 2026 Compass and Wagoneer S, with a focus on off-road capability and ruggedness. While the rear design of the vehicle has not been revealed, it is expected to be similar to the 2026 Compass.
The revival of the Cherokee nameplate is part of Jeep’s efforts to streamline its portfolio and increase sales volumes under the Stellantis umbrella. The company has been under pressure to optimize its lineup, and the return of the Cherokee is a strategic move to strengthen its mid-size SUV offerings. With its new design, advanced powertrains, and off-road capabilities, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is expected to be a competitive player in the mid-size SUV market.
