HDFC ERGO General Insurance has launched a groundbreaking platform called PlayAble, in partnership with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), to provide para-athletes with access to training facilities, coaches, and like-minded training partners across the country. The platform aims to empower para-athletes to train, grow, and compete with dignity and equal opportunity. PlayAble is an amalgamation of community, empowerment, and comfort, ensuring that no para-athlete trains alone.

The platform, which covers a wide range of sports, including track and field, para-swimming, para-cycling, and wheelchair basketball, offers real-time updates on facilities with accessibility, coaching, and like-minded training partners. According to Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India, “India’s para-athletes have shown the world what determination can achieve. But real consistent wins happen in an ecosystem where they train, compete, and push their limits regularly. PlayAble is a game-changer for para-athletes, for sports, and for India’s sporting future.”

Sudakshina Bhattacharya, President & CHRO, HDFC ERGO General Insurance, emphasized that diversity and inclusion are core values for the company, stating, “At HDFC ERGO, diversity and inclusion is more than an effort- it is an emotion that inspires us to create platforms where every individual regardless of their ability has an equal opportunity to thrive and shine.” She believes that PlayAble is an answer to the challenge of accessing proper training facilities and like-minded partners, and that every champion deserves the right tools to succeed.

The partnership between HDFC ERGO and PCI marks a new chapter in enabling para-athletes to train, grow, and compete with dignity and equal opportunity. PlayAble stems from Love all by HDFC ERGO, India’s first open-source DEI movement, which has been playing a pivotal role in the DEI space in corporate India. The platform has been conceptualized and brought to life by BBH India, illustrating their creative prowess and deep commitment to the cause of inclusion.

The PlayAble App is designed to provide para-athletes with seamless access to training facilities, coaches, and like-minded training partners. The app covers a wide range of sports and offers real-time updates on facilities with accessibility, coaching, and like-minded training partners. By launching PlayAble, HDFC ERGO aims to build a world where every para-athlete has a place to train, a team to grow with, and a dream within reach. In the words of Sudakshina Bhattacharya, “Every para-athlete embodies resilience and is a shining example of the unbreakable spirit of sport… We believe PlayAble is an answer to that challenge, telling every para-athlete in this country that no boundary is too great to overcome.”
