C K Ranganathan, chairman and MD of CavinKare, recently spoke at an annual awards function organized by CavinKare and the Madras Management Association (MMA) to recognize innovations. He highlighted the dual impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on industries, stating that while it disrupts routine jobs, it also opens up new opportunities. Ranganathan likened AI to an Arabian horse, admired by many but ridden with purpose by only a few.

The awards function recognized several innovative companies, including Dhanvantri Biomedical Pvt Ltd, which received an award for its Sahayatha Wheelchair. This innovative wheelchair features an integrated toilet, cleaning system, and water storage unit, designed for individuals who cannot access conventional toilets due to age, disability, or illness.

Another award recipient was Avay Biosciences, recognized for its 3D bioprinting platform. This platform replaces animal testing in preclinical drug trials by using patient-derived tissues to build accurate 3D models, making the drug testing process faster, cheaper, and more precise.

Urdhvam Environmental Technologies Pvt Ltd was also honored for its Bore Charger, a smart rainwater harvesting system that revives dry or low-yield borewells. The system highlights the potential for innovation to address environmental challenges.

In his speech, R Dinesh, executive chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, emphasized the importance of embracing change and making breakthroughs in response to problems. He stated that every problem creates an opportunity, and no company can survive without innovating and adapting to new challenges. The awards function showcased the potential for innovation to drive positive change and highlighted the importance of embracing new technologies and ideas. Overall, the event demonstrated that innovation can be a powerful tool for addressing social, environmental, and economic challenges.
