CK Educational Institutions, in partnership with CavinKare, has launched CK Unavagam, a student-led meal service initiative that combines education with social responsibility. The initiative was inaugurated by Ms. Amudhavalli Ranganathan, Executive Director of CK Educational Institutions, on August 21, 2025, in Cuddalore. CK Unavagam is a 4,500 sq. ft. facility that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at affordable prices, starting from ₹10, with a seating capacity of over 200.
The initiative is inspired by the vision of Ms. Amudhavalli’s great grandmother, Late Mrs. Manoranjitham, who believed that every person deserves a dignified meal. The project also draws from the vision of her grandfather, Late Shri R ChinniKrishnan, who believed that whatever the rich can afford, the common man should also be able to afford. CK Unavagam is not just a meal service, but a platform for students to gain practical experience in running an enterprise, managing operations, finances, and customer service.
The students are actively involved in the day-to-day operations of CK Unavagam, including vendor coordination, inventory management, quality checks, and marketing. This hands-on experience is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to run a successful enterprise while also fostering leadership, empathy, and accountability. By engaging students in this mission, CK Educational Institutions aims to create responsible citizens who understand compassion, community spirit, and sustainability.
Ms. Amudhavalli Ranganathan emphasized that CK Unavagam is not just about providing affordable meals, but about dignity and creating a sense of community. She believes that by transforming her family’s legacy into a lasting public good, she can make a positive impact on the community.
