The International Operations Bureau (IOB) has appointed Diarmuid Murphy as its new Director of Sustainability and International Markets. In his new role, Murphy will lead IOB’s efforts to support ESG, culture, diversity, and inclusion in the financial services sector. He will also be responsible for expanding IOB’s offerings internationally. Murphy brings a wealth of experience from his 23-year tenure at the Central Bank of Ireland, where he worked in central banking, prudential policy, and sustainable finance policy development. He also spent three years at the European Commission, working in the sustainable finance policy team. Murphy has also held various positions at the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, and the Bank for International Settlements. He will be responsible for leading IOB’s programs and courses on ESG and culture, including sustainable finance and leading cultural change. IOB’s CEO, Mary O’Dea, welcomed Murphy’s appointment, stating that his experience and expertise will help further develop and deliver IOB’s sustainability strategy and international growth.
