The Le Moyne College men’s and women’s swim and dive teams hosted Colgate University on Friday, but unfortunately, both teams suffered losses. The men’s team fell to Colgate with a score of 173-73, while the women’s team lost 154-92.

In the men’s competition, the Dolphins had some notable performances despite the overall loss. Sophomore swimmer, John Cronin, won the 1000 freestyle event with a time of 10:21.41, and junior swimmer, Joe Sanchez, took first place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:00.97. Additionally, the men’s 200 medley relay team, consisting of Sanchez, Cronin, and two other teammates, finished in second place with a time of 1:41.15.

On the women’s side, the Dolphins also had some strong individual performances. Junior swimmer, Emma Kenna, won the 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:09.24, and freshman swimmer, Sarah Carbeck, took first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:15.35. The women’s 200 medley relay team, consisting of Kenna, Carbeck, and two other teammates, finished in second place with a time of 1:54.15.

Despite these individual successes, the Dolphins were unable to overcome Colgate’s overall team strength. The Raiders won 11 of the 14 events in the men’s competition and 10 of the 14 events in the women’s competition.

The loss drops the men’s team to 2-4 on the season, while the women’s team falls to 1-5. The Dolphins will look to bounce back from the defeat as they head into their next competition. The team’s performance against Colgate highlighted some areas of strength, particularly in the individual events, but also revealed areas where improvement is needed.

The Le Moyne College swim and dive teams will continue to work hard and strive for improvement as they move forward in their season. With a focus on building on their individual successes and addressing their weaknesses, the Dolphins hope to turn their season around and come out strong in their upcoming competitions.
