The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has inaugurated an outlet called “House of Himalayas” at the Uttarakhand Niwas Complex in New Delhi. The outlet aims to promote the natural and handmade goods produced in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand and provide them with global recognition. This initiative is part of the state government’s vision to strengthen the rural economy and provide new opportunities to local artisans and craftsmen.

The “House of Himalayas” brand was first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Global Investors Summit 2023. The brand will showcase special products of Uttarakhand, such as Buransh Sharbat, wild honey, mountain pulses, traditional spices, handmade clothes, and other organic materials. These products will be made available in a systematic form in major cities across the country.

To promote the sale of local products, the state government has set up attractive floor-standing units and retail carts at 13 prominent places, including airports, helipads, and tourist destinations. These retail carts are becoming a center of attraction for devotees and tourists. Additionally, the government is setting up retail carts at prestigious institutions, such as Marriott Mussoorie, Taj Dehradun, and Delhi Haat.

The “House of Himalayas” initiative is not only providing national and international recognition to local products but also strongly presenting the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Uttarakhand. The brand has created a special identity based on its quality in a short time and has made strategic partnerships with reputed hotels to connect high-end tourists with local products.

The Secretary of Rural Development, Radhika Jha, stated that the initiative is encouraging local producers and artisans towards economic empowerment and is an important step towards sustainable tourism and self-reliant Uttarakhand. The “House of Himalayas” outlet in New Delhi will serve as a powerful medium to present the traditional heritage and organic products of Uttarakhand in an organized form in the national capital.

Overall, the “House of Himalayas” initiative is a significant step towards promoting the local products and cultural heritage of Uttarakhand, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and tourism industry. With its focus on sustainable tourism and economic empowerment, the initiative is likely to benefit local artisans, craftsmen, and producers, and provide them with new opportunities for growth and development.
