The Guru Purnima celebrations took place at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar on July 10, 2025, with deep devotion and spiritual energy. The event was guided by Swami Ramdev Maharaj and Acharya Balkrishna Maharaj, who exchanged garlands as a mark of mutual respect. Guru Purnima is a significant festival in Indian culture, where devotees honor their spiritual teachers and commemorate the birth anniversary of sage Vyasa.
Swami Ramdev emphasized that Guru Purnima is not just a religious observance, but a movement to revive and re-establish Sanatan Dharma as the guiding force of the era. He reminded the audience of India’s rich legacy, including the Guru-Shishya parampara, ancient Rishi traditions, and spiritual wisdom of the Vedas. He urged students to live with Rishitva (sagehood) and Devatva (divinity), and to bring about a true revolution in the world rooted in truth, yoga, spirituality, and justice.
Acharya Balkrishna Maharaj echoed similar sentiments, stating that Guru Purnima has meaning only when disciples follow their Guru’s path with complete faith and discipline. He encouraged people to adopt the teachings of their Guru in everyday life and walk the path of righteousness (Dharma). He also emphasized the importance of India’s age-old traditions, such as Yoga, Ayurveda, Sanatan Dharma, and Vedic knowledge, in leading the nation to become a global beacon.
The event also saw the organization of an Akhand Bhandara (continuous community kitchen) for Shiva devotees (Kanwariyas) as part of the ongoing Kanwar Mela. Thousands of pilgrims were served food with love and humility, with Swami Ramdev personally taking part in the food distribution. The event was attended by spiritual leaders, department heads, volunteers, students, and officials associated with Patanjali Yogpeeth, and hundreds followed as Baba Ramdev performed yoga asanas.
N.P. Singh, Executive Chairman of the Bharatiya Shiksha Board, praised the divine energy of the event and highlighted how the Patanjali movement is igniting a holistic transformation in the field of education. The Guru Purnima celebrations at Patanjali Yogpeeth were a testament to the power of spiritual guidance and the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. The event was a call to action, urging individuals to embody the qualities of Rishitva and Devatva and to work towards creating a more just and spiritual world.
