A group of 30 tribal women from various farmer self-help groups (SHGs) in Gumla, attended a three-day exposure-cum training program at the Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) in Anand, Gujarat. The program, which commenced on Monday, aims to build the capacity of these women farmers and broaden their vision to become independent and progressive farmers. The women, who hail from all 12 blocks of the Gumla district, are expected to gain knowledge on smart farming methods during their visit.

According to District officials, the objective of the program is to empower the women farmers by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful farm entrepreneurs. The women will have the opportunity to visit the Amul plant, a renowned dairy cooperative, and learn from their experiences. By imbibing lessons on smart work in the soil, the women are expected to adopt innovative farming practices that will enhance their productivity and income.

Gumla Deputy Commissioner, Prerna Dixit, expressed her hopes that the visit will have a positive impact on the women farmers, enabling them to emerge as strong farm entrepreneurs. The program is seen as a significant step towards promoting women’s empowerment and rural development in the region. By providing training and exposure to new farming techniques, the administration aims to equip the women with the necessary tools to become self-sufficient and successful farmers.
