On July 2, 2025, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., a leading packaged drinking water brand in India, launched a comprehensive plastic waste management drive during the Puri Rath Yatra 2025. The initiative, called Bottles for Change (BFC), aimed to promote responsible plastic use, collection, and recycling. In partnership with Puri’s Municipal Corporation and the District Administration, Bisleri deployed a community-centric approach to manage plastic waste during the event.

As part of the drive, plastic collection bins were placed at high-footfall areas along the Rath Yatra route, encouraging pilgrims and visitors to dispose of plastic responsibly. Self-Help Group (SHG) members were also engaged to facilitate on-ground segregation of plastic waste. The collected plastic was transported to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for sorting, processing, and recycling, ensuring that no plastic waste ended up in landfills.

According to Mr. K. Ganesh, Director of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International, the initiative aimed to promote environmental responsibility and integrate sustainable practices into the celebrations. Bisleri also planned to conduct two large-scale clean-up drives post-event, in collaboration with students and citizen volunteers, to raise awareness about environmental stewardship and reinforce the values of shared civic responsibility.

The campaign is part of Bisleri’s broader efforts to promote plastic circularity and make a positive impact on the environment. The company has established MRFs across India and launched initiatives such as the Bench of Dreams, which contributes to building a circular economy by reducing waste and fostering sustainable consumption patterns.

Bisleri International has a legacy of over 50 years and is committed to providing pure, safe, and healthy water to its consumers. The company has a strong presence in India and the UAE, with 128 operational plants and a robust distribution network. Bisleri has also ventured into other beverages, including carbonated drinks and Himalayan spring water, and has launched a direct-to-consumer platform called Bisleri@Doorstep.

The company’s core values lie in yielding growth and embedding sustainability, with a focus on creating a greener future for all.
