Amul, a brand owned by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), has maintained its position as India’s top food brand, according to the Brand Finance India 100 – 2025 report. The brand’s value has increased by 24% year-over-year, reaching $4.1 billion, solidifying its leadership in the Indian food and dairy sector. Amul ranks ahead of other prominent brands such as Mother Dairy, Britannia, Nandini, and Dabur in the list of India’s Top 5 Food Brands.
The report attributes Amul’s growth to its robust product portfolio, particularly its expanding protein range and health-focused offerings, which have gained significant traction in the Indian market. The brand’s competitive pricing, extensive market penetration, and consistent consumer engagement have also contributed to its valuation surge. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF (Amul), expressed pride in being recognized as India’s strongest food brand in 2025, noting that this recognition coincides with the International Year of Cooperatives, highlighting the strength and resilience of the cooperative model.
Amul has also been ranked as the third strongest brand in India overall, across all categories, with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 91.2 out of 100 and an AAA+ rating. This reflects the brand’s enduring consumer trust and preference. The report also notes that Amul’s entry into the North American market marks a significant strategic milestone, positioning the brand for long-term global growth. This expansion is expected to further boost Amul’s brand value and strengthen its position in the global food and dairy sector.
The recognition of Amul as India’s strongest food brand is a testament to the collective efforts of millions of dairy farmers and the brand’s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable food and dairy products to consumers. With its strong brand reputation and expanding global presence, Amul is well-positioned for continued growth and success in the years to come. As the brand continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, it is likely to maintain its leadership position in the Indian food and dairy sector.
