On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Kurukshetra in Haryana witnessed a massive gathering of over one lakh participants, including 40,000 school children, at the sacred Brahma Sarovar. The event, led by Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, aimed to create a world record for the largest synchronized yoga session at a single location. The gathering was a sea of calm and collective energy, with participants performing various forms of yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, and MP Naveen Jindal, who actively participated in the session. The Chief Minister termed the event a “proud milestone” and said that it had elevated Kurukshetra’s cultural significance and placed Haryana on the global wellness map. He also emphasized the importance of yoga, saying it was “discipline, health, and the soul of India.”
The energy at the venue was vibrant and peaceful, with participants from all walks of life coming together to embrace the spirit of health, balance, and mindfulness. The event was a culmination of Haryana’s vision of a “Yoga-Yukt, Nasha-Mukt Haryana,” a state united by yoga and free from addiction.
The International Day of Yoga celebrations were not limited to Kurukshetra, as the day was marked by yoga sessions in over one lakh locations across India, with an estimated two crore people participating. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national celebration from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, as part of the ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative of the government. The Prime Minister joined lakhs of citizens in performing the Common Yoga Protocol from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
The significance of yoga was highlighted by the Chief Minister, who said that it was a discipline that brought balance and unity to individuals. The event was a testament to the growing popularity of yoga in Haryana and across the country, with the ancient Indian practice now being embraced by countries across continents. As the world celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga, it was clear that the day had blossomed into a worldwide movement, promoting health, wellness, and mindfulness.
