Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently met with Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, and presented him with products from the “House of Himalayas” initiative. This initiative showcases the achievements of local communities, particularly women, in promoting self-employment through locally made goods. The products presented to Nadda are a symbol of the “pure and quality local products of Devbhoomi” and the “tireless hard work of women’s power”.
Dhami welcomed Nadda at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun and shared the moment on social media, highlighting the importance of the initiative. He described Uttarakhand as a state “imbued with religion, spirituality, and natural beauty” and a “symbol of valour and courage”. The Chief Minister’s efforts aim to promote self-employment and empower local communities, particularly women, through initiatives like the “House of Himalayas”.
In a separate development, Dhami launched the “e-Rupi” system, a digital initiative aimed at transforming agricultural support systems in the state. The system will provide a transparent, speedy, and middleman-free subsidy payment process for farmers. Alongside the launch, he introduced four key agricultural policies: the Kiwi Policy, Dragon Fruit Initiative, Apple Post-Harvest Scheme, and Millet Mission. The government is also working on introducing a Flower and Honey Policy to further enhance the agriculture sector.
The e-Rupi system will enable subsidies to be sent directly to farmers’ mobile phones, allowing them to purchase fertilisers, seeds, and medicines from authorized centers. Dhami directed officials to organize training sessions to familiarize farmers with the new system. The broader goal of these initiatives is to promote agricultural diversity, increase farmers’ income, and boost employment in both hill and plain regions. By strengthening the rural economy, the government aims to curb migration and promote overall development in the state.
