The Vietnamese government and Nestlé have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote sustainable agriculture and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country. The partnership aims to support Vietnam’s Net Zero commitments and advance regenerative, low-emission farming practices. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep emphasized that Nestlé brings value not only in production but also in sustainability, sharing Vietnam’s vision of green agricultural development.

The partnership will focus on enhancing the climate resilience and competitiveness of Vietnamese agriculture by supporting farmers in adopting regenerative methods. Nestlé will expand its NESCAFÉ Plan initiative, which has already supported over 21,000 farming households and rejuvenated 86,000 hectares of coffee farms. The company will provide training, technical assistance, and access to high-quality plantlets for coffee farmers, particularly in the Central Highlands, to help them adapt to the changing climate.

The partnership also aims to introduce and scale effective circular economy models across agricultural supply chains, improving waste management and resource efficiency. Additionally, it will build governmental capacity and improve market access for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially within domestic agricultural value chains. Nestlé will launch an internship program for agriculture students at Tay Nguyen University to cultivate the next generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture.

The goals of the partnership reflect Nestlé’s commitment to sustainable investment in Vietnam and its role as a strategic development partner. The company believes in Vietnam as a key growth driver in South East Asia and is proud to work with the government to build a sustainable, low-carbon economy. The partnership will organize seminars, workshops, and training programs to raise awareness of new legal frameworks and best practices in sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.

Overall, the partnership aims to increase the value and competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products through innovation, technological adoption, and the development of sustainable value chains. It will drive sustainable growth, enhance livelihoods, and strengthen climate change adaptation capacity for farmers in vulnerable regions. With this partnership, Nestlé reinforces its commitment to sustainability and its role as a responsible business leader in Vietnam.
