Deficiency In Service Costs Bank ₹ 1 Lakh

Namakkal: The district consumer disputes redressal commission on Tuesday directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to pay a compensation of Rs1 lakh to a customer for deficiency in its service.The commission said G Ganesan, 63, of Vilankurichi Road in Coimbatore, had transferred Rs1.88 lakh to the Coimbatore city branch of SBI in September 2022 for a payment to the civic body. “However, the bank mistakenly sent the amount to Mohammed Aslam’s account with Indian Overseas Bank. In defense, the bank said the amount was sent to the account number provided on the payment slip.
