sensex today: Sensex back in red after one-day hiatus, falls 260 points; Nifty below 21,600

Indian headline indices ended in the red on Saturday, conceding their early gains amid selling pressure in FMCG, IT and pharma sectors despite a good show by banks. While S&P BSE Sensex settled at 71,424, down by 260 points or 0.36%, the broader Nifty closed 50 points or 0.23% lower at 21,571.80.The market breadth was skewed in the favour of bears as 30 Nifty stocks closed with declines. Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), IndusInd Bank and HCL Technologies were among the top losers while the top gainers were Coal India, Adani Ports, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Adani Enterprises and ICICI Bank.Banks ended up as outperformers on what was largely a dull…
