The company Dürr has completed the modernization of an energy-efficient paint shop at Stellantis’ San Luis Potosi factory in Mexico. The project repurposed existing robots from the previous paint shop setup, reducing the environmental impact and costs associated with demolishing and rebuilding the structure. The upgraded paint shop features advanced technologies, such as Dürr’s EcoDry curing system and the iCell coating island, which together achieve significantly reduced energy consumption and higher paint shop efficiency.
By repurposing the existing robots, Dürr was able to reduce energy consumption by approximately 500,000 kWh per year, equivalent to the emissions of about 200 private cars. The paint shop’s capacity has also been increased, enabling Stellantis to produce more cars at a faster rate. Overall, the modernization effort has improved the factory’s sustainability and competitiveness.
Through this project, Dürr demonstrated its expertise in sustainable manufacturing solutions and showed that innovative technologies can help reduce the environmental footprint of industrial production while maintaining and even improving production performance and efficiency.
