India is on the cusp of a major energy transformation, with a target of 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. Experts at the ET Energyworld SmartEnergy Summit 2024 emphasized the importance of technology, policy, and collaboration to achieve this goal. Solar energy is expected to dominate the energy mix by 2030, creating daytime surpluses and evening peak challenges. Fossil fuels are expected to account for 55.9% of the energy mix, highlighting the need for a balanced energy transition. Smart meters and green energy corridors were highlighted as transformative technologies, enabling energy efficiency and ensuring transmission networks are ready before generation. Cybersecurity and foundational readiness were also emphasized as critical for successful integration of advanced technologies. Experts stressed the importance of aligning energy goals with economic growth and managing the grid with smart solutions. The summit concluded that India is poised to lead a renewable energy revolution, balancing sustainability, efficiency, and economic growth through a focus on technology, policy, and global collaboration.
