On October 17, 2025, Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND) celebrated International E-Waste Day as part of its flagship sustainability initiative, Harit Umang. The program aims to address environmental issues such as e-waste management, plastic waste, afforestation, biodiversity, and energy conservation. This year’s theme, “Critical Raw Materials,” aligns with Panasonic’s global sustainability mission, GREEN IMPACT, which aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by over 300 million tons globally by 2050.

To mark the occasion, Panasonic organized a special e-waste collection drive, #DiwaliWaaliSafai, where employees were encouraged to bring in discarded electronic items from their homes for responsible recycling. The company also collaborated with educational institutions, including schools and colleges, to raise awareness about e-waste management and responsible recycling practices among students. Through interactive sessions, exhibitions, and learning modules, participants learned about the importance of critical raw materials and how they can be recovered through responsible recycling.

Panasonic’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Tadashi Chiba, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability and the need for shared responsibility in tackling the global e-waste challenge. He urged consumers to recycle their electronic waste instead of hoarding it, stating that together, we can close the loop and protect the environment for future generations.

The initiative resulted in the collection of over 500 kilograms of e-waste, which was responsibly transferred to authorized recyclers for metal extraction and recovery. Through Harit Umang and other sustainability initiatives, Panasonic India promotes a circular economy and strengthens environmental awareness, aligning with its long-term vision of creating a greener, cleaner future. By encouraging responsible e-waste management and recycling practices, Panasonic aims to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.
