The Government of India has introduced the Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments (ADEETIE) initiative to promote energy efficiency in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The scheme, launched by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, aims to support the adoption of energy-efficient technologies in industrial units, with a budget of ₹1,000 crore. The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Power and implemented through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
India’s industrial sector is a significant energy consumer, and MSMEs often lack access to capital and modern technologies. The ADEETIE scheme seeks to address this by providing financial and technical support to MSMEs, enabling them to adopt advanced technologies that can lead to 30-50% energy savings. This, in turn, will reduce overall energy consumption and operational costs, while supporting India’s climate commitments.
The scheme has several key objectives, including promoting the deployment of energy-efficient technologies, providing financial incentives and subsidies to MSMEs, strengthening their technical capacity, and enabling monitoring and verification for long-term impact tracking. The ₹1,000 crore budget is allocated across various components, including interest subvention, energy audits, and implementation support.
The ADEETIE scheme offers an interest subsidy of 5% for Micro and Small Enterprises, and 3% for Medium Enterprises. The initiative will be implemented in phases, covering 14 energy-intensive sectors and 60 industrial clusters. It also includes support for Investment Grade Energy Audit (IGEA) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).
The expected impact of the scheme is significant, with enhanced competitiveness, lower energy bills, and improved production efficiency for MSMEs. The widespread adoption of clean technologies is expected to lead to reduced carbon emissions and a stronger push towards sustainable development in India’s industrial sector. Overall, the ADEETIE initiative is a crucial step towards achieving a low-carbon economy and sustainable industrial growth in India.
