The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has announced a tender for the development of 110 MW of solar power projects in the Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Nagar solar parks. The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate-maintain basis, with 35 MW to be set up in Kanpur Nagar solar park and 75 MW in Kanpur Dehat solar park. Interested bidders must submit their applications by May 27, 2025, with bids to be opened on May 28.

To participate in the tender, bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹800,000 (~$9,387) per MW and a performance bank guarantee of ₹2 million (~$23,468) per project. They must also pay a document fee of ₹29,500 (~$346) and a document processing fee of ₹100,000 (~$1,173) plus 18% GST for the 35 MW projects, and ₹300,000 (~$3,520) plus 18% GST for the 75 MW projects.

The successful bidders will be required to develop the solar projects, including street lighting for internal roads, drainage systems, and weather monitoring stations. They must also sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation and ensure a minimum capacity utilization factor of 17%. The projects must be completed within 24 months, and only commercially established and operational technologies will be allowed to minimize technology risk.

To be eligible, bidders must have a net worth of at least ₹8 million (~$93,874) per MW and a maximum annual turnover of ₹3.4 million (~$39,896.6) per MW. Solar modules must be procured from companies included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

This is not the first tender issued by UPNEDA in recent months. In September 2024, the agency invited bids for 320 MW of grid-connected ground-mounted solar power projects in Jalaun, and in March 2024, it floated a tender for 600 MW of grid-connected solar power projects in Jhansi Solar Park. The Indian solar market continues to attract significant attention, with new tenders and projects being announced regularly.
