Ultraviolette, a Bengaluru-based e-bike manufacturer, is set to ship its first consignment of performance motorcycles to Germany by early next month, marking the company’s entry into the European market. This makes Ultraviolette the first Indian e-bike manufacturer to sell in European markets. The company plans to start retail sales of its F77 Mach2 motorcycle in Germany in June, followed by sales in Spain, France, the UK, and the Netherlands.
Ultraviolette has been testing its products in Europe for a year and has obtained the necessary certifications. The company has showcased its F77 motorcycle and upcoming scooter, Tesseract, at various expos in Europe. To accommodate the different driving conditions and higher average speeds in Europe, Ultraviolette has made adjustments to its suspension and drive cycles.
The company plans to target 30% of its revenue from Europe by 2028, with sales of around 20,000 units. In the Indian market, Ultraviolette aims to sell around 80,000 units a year by 2028. The company’s CEO and co-founder, Narayan Subramaniam, stressed that Ultraviolette has always had global benchmarks in mind, with an approach similar to Tesla’s. The company started developing its motorcycle in 2016 and introduced its first product last year.
Ultraviolette’s F77 Mach2 motorcycle features a 30 kW motor, 10.3 kWh battery capacity, and a range of 323 km. The company plans to introduce a scooter with a 20 kW power output, which is twice that of the competition. Ultraviolette’s R&D team includes experts who have previously worked at Tesla, Honda, Safran, Honeywell, Rubicon, Apple, and other leading industries. With its foray into the European market, Ultraviolette is poised to become a major player in the global e-bike industry.
