The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has announced the results of its latest onshore wind bidding round, with a total capacity of 930 megawatts (MW) awarded at an average price of €87.61/MWh. German energy company RWE has emerged as a significant winner, with seven projects awarded to it, totaling 183 megawatts (MW) of capacity. RWE’s CEO, Katja Wünschel, expressed her congratulations to the teams involved in the project, citing the company’s strategy and project pipeline quality as key factors in its success.
The seven awarded projects will feature 35 wind turbines across four regions in France – Centre-Val de Loire, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, and Normandy – showcasing the company’s commitment to geographic diversification. The projects are expected to be commissioned from 2027, with additional installations planned for 2028. This expansion further strengthens RWE’s development pipeline in France, demonstrating the company’s expertise and robust project plans.
RWE will develop five of the projects independently, while partnering with Vent du Nord and Escofi for the remaining two. This partnership approach allows RWE to collaborate with other companies, sharing expertise and resources to drive innovation and success. Additionally, these projects align with RWE’s commitment to renewable energy and its goal of reducing carbon emissions.
Overall, RWE’s success in the French onshore wind bidding round highlights the company’s capabilities in the French market and its commitment to sustainable energy. The announcement represents a significant step forward in RWE’s growth strategy, solidifying its position as a leading player in the global renewable energy sector.
