Ampere, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in India, has launched an upgraded version of its popular Reo series, the Reo 80. The new electric scooter is a low-speed vehicle with a top speed of 25 kmph, making it accessible to a wider range of users without requiring a driving license or vehicle registration. This not only makes the e-scooter more accessible but also ensures a lower acquisition cost.
The Ampere Reo 80 comes with a range of features, including a colored LCD instrument console, keyless start, and dual-tone color options in black, red, blue, and white. It also features a front disc brake and rides on alloy wheels. The company has plans to begin deliveries of the new Reo 80 across India from this month onwards.
The launch of the Reo 80 is seen as a strategic move by Ampere to make electric mobility more accessible and inclusive for its customers in India. The company’s vision is to enable “Har Gully Electric”, making electric vehicles a viable option for every rider, regardless of their budget or need.
The new offering will compete with other entry-level e-scooters in the market. Ampere has been gaining momentum in the Indian EV space, with retail sales of 6,000 electric scooters in March 2025, registering a 52 per cent month-on-month growth. With the launch of the Reo 80, Ampere aims to expand its presence in the market and solidify its position as a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in India.
