Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the country’s first geared electric motorbike plant in Changodar, Ahmedabad, set up by MATTER Company. The move is part of the state government’s efforts to establish Gujarat as the nation’s hub for green energy. Patel commended the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for championing the idea of “Innovate in India” and promoting renewable energy.

The Chief Minister mentioned that India has made significant progress in the green energy sector, with a surge in the production of green energy from 2.8 gigawatts to 102.5 gigawatts in the past 10 years. He also highlighted that India has become the world’s fifth-largest economy with a 12% growth in the automobile sector. Patel stated that the country is working towards becoming the third-largest producer of renewable energy.

The state government has introduced the EV Policy 2021, and efforts are being made to develop the necessary infrastructure. The government is promoting the production of lithium-ion batteries essential for electric vehicles. Gujarat has already registered 2.64 lakh electric vehicles, and 800 electric buses are operating in public transportation.

Rajya Sabha MP Govindbhai Dholakia said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government is bringing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat to life. MATTER Company’s founder, Mohal Lalbhai, thanked the Chief Minister for supporting the company and praised the state’s progressive industrial policies.

The Chief Minister also gave zero emission bikes to the State Police Force and Gir Rangers. The company plans to produce around 1.20 lakh units annually. The event was attended by other dignitaries, industry partners, and employees of MATTER Company.
