The Indian government has announced that the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar, Muft Bijli Yojana program has reached a significant milestone, with 10.09 lakh installations across the country as of March 10th. The program, launched on February 13, aims to provide free electricity to one crore homes through rooftop solar power, reducing reliance on conventional power and empowering citizens as energy producers.

According to a statement by the New and Renewable Energy Ministry, Chandigarh and Daman and Diu have achieved 100% of their government building rooftop solar targets, leading the nation in clean energy adoption. States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are also performing exceptionally well, contributing significantly to the overall installation figures.

New and Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi highlighted in a social media post that the program has empowered 10 lakh homes with solar energy, driving a new era of sustainability, affordability, and self-reliance. The scheme enables every household to contribute to climate change mitigation by reducing carbon emissions.

The program has achieved this milestone in just a short span of time, demonstrating the rapid adoption of clean energy in the country. It has also created a new wave of sustainable living, empowering citizens to take control of their energy needs and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. The success of the program is a testament to the government’s commitment to renewable energy and its ability to drive positive change in the country.
