The Arthur Kill Terminal, a proposed offshore wind turbine assembly facility, is making progress on Staten Island. The terminal, which will be constructed with union labor in 2025, has received approval from Mayor Eric Adams and the City Planning Commission. Once completed in 2026, the terminal will be a specialized port at the foot of the Outerbridge Crossing where offshore wind turbines and towers can be assembled and staged before being brought out to sea. The project is expected to create 750 union jobs, with 600 in construction and 150 in operations. Additionally, the terminal has partnered with the College of Staten Island to provide education and workforce training programming, which will create new opportunities for Staten Islanders to secure well-paying jobs in the energy field. Despite concerns about traffic, experts believe that the impact will be minimal, and the road will be widened to accommodate the terminal. The project has received support from local and state officials, including a letter of support from State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Assemblymember Charles Fall.
