ScottishPower Renewables has awarded a contract to Taylor Woodrow for civil engineering works on the onshore substation for the £4bn East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm. The project will create approximately 80 jobs during its execution. The windfarm, located off the Suffolk coast, will generate up to 960MW of power, enough to supply around 950,000 homes. The project’s onshore development will include highway improvements, landscaping, and screening to integrate the wind farm into the local infrastructure. Taylor Woodrow will be responsible for these works, which will begin in 2023 and be complete by 2025. The wind farm will be a major contributor to the UK’s renewable energy targets for 2030, providing nearly 5% of the nation’s offshore wind cumulative deployment goal. ScottishPower Renewables’ managing director, Ross Ovens, expressed his excitement about partnering with Taylor Woodrow, stating that the project will create permanent skilled jobs, support the local economy, and boost the UK’s renewable energy capabilities.
