JSW MG Motor India is addressing key challenges in EV adoption, including charging infrastructure, battery security, and resale value, through initiatives like the MG eHUB and a 60% buyback program. The company has now introduced a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, which offers a flexible, subscription-based model for the battery. This approach reduces the upfront acquisition cost of EVs, making them more affordable for buyers. With BaaS, customers can pay ₹9.99 lakh for the base model of the MG Windsor EV, excluding the battery, and an additional charge of ₹3.50 per kilometre driven for the battery. While the response has been slow, JSW MG Motor India is confident that BaaS will be a game-changer in the EV industry, proposing that it will eventually gain widespread acceptance. The company has also extended the program to other EV models, including the MG Comet EV and ZS EV. However, more needs to be done to make BaaS a success, and the company is working to spread awareness among customers and partners.
