LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL) has launched a new range of residential air conditioners that comply with the latest 2026 Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Star Rating norms. The company is among the first brands in India to introduce a full portfolio aligned with the revised energy-efficiency framework, which raises national efficiency benchmarks significantly. The updated BEE norms bring India’s air conditioner performance standards closer to global best practices, and LG has upgraded its air conditioner portfolio well in advance to ensure consumers have access to the latest energy-saving technology.

The revised 2026 framework has tightened energy performance thresholds, which means that certain models that were earlier classified as 5-star under previous guidelines may now fall under 4-star ratings. However, LG clarified that this change reflects stricter evaluation standards, not reduced product performance, and is intended to accelerate the adoption of more efficient cooling technologies across households. According to industry estimates, shifting to a 2026-norm 5-star AC can deliver savings of around ₹19,000 over 10 years, depending on electricity tariffs and usage patterns.

The new range of air conditioners from LG features upgrades aimed at improving user convenience and control, such as the Precool feature, which uses geofencing technology to detect when the user enters a predefined distance range, and the Energy Manager+ feature, which reviews historical usage patterns and recommends practical operating hours and consumption targets. LG’s 2026-compliant residential AC line-up has been available in the market since early January, helping early buyers avoid purchasing models built to older standards.

To support consumer understanding of the revised rating system, LG is launching an awareness campaign across print, digital, and retail platforms to explain how the new star ratings work and why the standards have changed. The company has also aligned its manufacturing and supply chain systems to the revised guidelines, while air conditioners produced under previous standards will continue to be sold until existing inventory is cleared, giving consumers flexibility in purchase timing.

Sanjay Chitkara, Co-Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, LG Electronics India Limited, commented, “As India adopts tighter energy-efficiency standards, LG Electronics India remains committed to supporting this shift through early compliance and future-focused innovation. With our portfolio already aligned to the new BEE norms, we are entering the season prepared to offer dependable, energy-efficient air conditioning solutions that reduce operating costs while delivering strong cooling performance.” Overall, LG’s new range of air conditioners is designed to provide consumers with energy-efficient and convenient cooling solutions, while also supporting the country’s efforts to adopt more sustainable and efficient technologies.
