Ola Electric has announced that its in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell and battery pack platform is now available to third parties, including households and enterprises across various sectors such as energy, healthcare, defense, and robotics. The 4680 Bharat Cell is a significant development, as it is India’s only facility that researches, engineers, and manufactures cells from start to finish. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal emphasized that the company is opening up this platform to not only large enterprises but also to startups, innovators, and builders who want to create advanced products on a strong and reliable energy foundation.
The 4680 Bharat Cell and battery pack can be used in various applications, including automotive, humanoids, drones, and portable medical equipment. Businesses can now directly purchase the cells or the 1.5kWh battery pack, enabling them to innovate and scale rapidly with new energy storage solutions designed, engineered, and manufactured in India. This move is expected to boost the growth of startups and businesses in the country, as they can now access reliable and advanced energy storage solutions.
In addition to making its battery technology available to third parties, Ola Electric has also launched its residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solution, Ola Shakti. The solution is available in two models: the 3kW/5.2kWh model priced at ₹1,49,999 and the 6kW/9.1kWh model priced at ₹2,49,999. The system can power appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators, with a backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours on full load. Deliveries for the Ola Shakti models are expected to start at the end of January 2026 and mid-February 2026, respectively.
Furthermore, Ola Electric has begun deliveries of its flagship motorcycle, the Roadster X+ 9.1kWh, which is powered by the 4680 Bharat Cell and offers a range of up to 500 km on a single charge. The company has also scaled up deliveries of the S1 Pro+ 5.2kWh across India. Overall, Ola Electric’s move to make its battery technology available to third parties and launch its residential BESS solution is expected to have a significant impact on the energy storage market in India, enabling innovation, scalability, and growth for businesses and households alike.
