Andhra Pradesh has been awarded the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award for the fourth consecutive year, a rare achievement among Indian states. The state secured the first prize in the State Energy Efficiency Performance Award (Group II) with an impressive score of 89.25 in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI-2025), a 2.3% improvement over its previous year’s score. The award will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on National Energy Conservation Day, December 14, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The state’s chief secretary, K Vijayanand, attributed the consistent recognition to the state’s sustained and structured approach to energy conservation across key sectors such as buildings, industry, agriculture, municipalities, and transport. He praised the visionary leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the strong support of Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, as well as the coordinated efforts of all government departments and stakeholders.

The chief secretary highlighted key initiatives that contributed to the state’s success, including the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0, and sector-specific policies for MSMEs, electronics, and food processing. He also mentioned the establishment of energy conservation cells with nodal officers across departments.

AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) CEO S Nagalakshmi expressed gratitude to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and all state departments for their support and collaboration. She noted that significant progress was made in enforcing the Energy Conservation Building Code, implementing energy efficiency projects in schools, hospitals, and ITIs, promoting advanced technologies in MSMEs, and executing municipal pumping system upgrades.

The award is a testament to Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to energy efficiency and its robust institutional framework. The state’s consistent performance over the past four years demonstrates its dedication to reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable development. The chief secretary congratulated APSECM CEO Nagalakshmi and her team on their outstanding achievement, which reflects the state’s long-term commitment to energy conservation.
