ABB India has launched a new production line for variable speed drive (VSD) modules at its Peenya factory in Bengaluru, increasing its local drives production capacity by approximately 25%. This expansion supports India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives, which aim to promote local manufacturing and reduce dependence on foreign products. The new production line is equipped with state-of-the-art automation and robotics, enhancing productivity, safety, and quality in line with Industry 4.0 standards.
The upgraded line will produce drives with large power ratings for various industries, including buildings, data centers, water, cement, and metals. It is also capable of delivering customized, made-to-order drives for evolving industrial requirements. Localized production is expected to reduce lead times by up to 40%, enabling faster delivery and improved customization for Indian customers. This will allow ABB India to serve its customers with greater reliability, speed, and agility, leveraging cutting-edge automation.
The new production line is designed to be energy-efficient and reliable, with advanced robotics and digital monitoring technology automating key components.
