Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle subsidiary, Vida, is set to unveil a new electric motorcycle concept called the Ubex at the EICMA 2025 event in November. The Ubex will be a street-naked motorcycle with a mid-drive motor, USD forks, mono-shocks, disk brakes, and alloy wheels. The image shared by Vida only shows the silhouette of the motorcycle, leaving much to the imagination. The performance specifications of the Ubex are not available yet, but it is expected to be a significant addition to the Indian electric vehicle market.
The Ubex could be Hero’s first-ever electric motorbike for the Indian market, and its development may be a result of the company’s collaboration with Zero Motorcycles. Hero MotoCorp is reportedly working with Zero Motorcycles on several products in the 350cc and above segments, set to launch between 2026-27. It is unclear if the Ubex is one of these motorcycles, but the partnership could bring advanced technology and expertise to the table.
The name “Ubex” may be a nod to “Urbex,” short for urban exploration, hinting at the motorcycle’s city-focused intentions. This comes as several brands are working on adding electric motorcycles to their line-up. Royal Enfield is developing the Flying Flea C6, expected to launch in early 2026, while Ather Energy, in which Hero MotoCorp has a major stake, is working on the Zenith platform for electric two-wheelers targeting the 125-300cc segments.
The EICMA 2025 event will provide a platform for Vida to showcase its innovative products, including the Ubex concept. The event will be held in the first week of November, and it will be interesting to see how the Ubex is received by the public and the industry. With the growing demand for electric vehicles, the Ubex could be an important step for Hero MotoCorp in the Indian market. The company’s collaboration with Zero Motorcycles and its investment in Ather Energy demonstrate its commitment to the electric vehicle segment, and the Ubex could be a key part of its strategy.
