Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable transportation solutions in India. The report was launched by Karnataka’s Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Eshwara Khandre, and key executives from TKM. The minister emphasized the importance of industries promoting tree planting, protecting urban greenery, and adopting eco-friendly practices to combat climate change.

TKM’s approach aligns with India’s COP26 climate goals and Toyota’s global vision for environmental sustainability by 2050. The company is committed to implementing solutions that fit India’s unique conditions while contributing to worldwide climate targets. The report highlights initiatives across environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance, including efforts to lead India towards carbon neutrality.

TKM is expanding its range of electrified vehicles, including hybrid, battery electric, and fuel cell models, to make clean transportation options more affordable and widespread across India. The company has also developed Electrified Flex-Fuel Vehicles to support the country’s biofuel integration ambitions. Additionally, TKM has enforced strict environmental standards with suppliers and established eco-friendly dealership and logistics networks to reduce carbon footprint throughout the entire lifecycle.

The company has transitioned to 100% renewable electricity at all manufacturing sites and aims for carbon-neutral production by 2035, with zero emissions across the supply chain by 2050. TKM sources nearly 90% of its water needs through rainwater harvesting and recycling, addressing India’s critical water scarcity challenges. The company has also achieved zero waste sent to landfills across plants, recycling over 96% of waste by practicing Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle principles.

TKM’s social initiatives include skill-building programs, efforts to increase women’s participation in leadership and technical roles, expanded healthcare access, and support for local farmers focused on water conservation. The company’s future roadmap centers on innovation and collaboration, aiming to scale up green vehicle solutions, increase renewable energy usage, optimize resource efficiency, and ensure an inclusive transition that benefits all stakeholders.

The Toyota Green Wave Project has created a 112-acre green space with native trees and flora, restoring local ecosystems and supporting wildlife. The initiative includes a 25-acre eco-education zone, demonstrating TKM’s commitment to environmental balance. Environmental awareness is promoted year-round with special events and campaigns, involving employees, communities, suppliers, and partners in sustainable practices.
